
Kupwara: To commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram, a Plantation Drive was organized on Monday by NCC cadets at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Kralpora.
The event was held under the supervision of In-charge Principal Mohd Ashraf Malik, Senior Lecturer Ali Mohd Mir, Lecturer Javaid Iqbal Pir, and Dr. Rayees Ahmad Bhat.
NCC Officer Hilal Ahmad Mir led the initiative, guiding the cadets in every phase of the programme. Under his direction, the cadets showcased exemplary discipline, enthusiasm, and commitment to social and environmental causes. Hilal Ahmad Mir highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing environmental consciousness, teamwork, and patriotism among students.
The programme was attended by officers from 7 Battalion NCC Kupwara, including Colonel S. S. Misqith, Subedar Pramod Kumar, Subedar Manoj Kumar R, and Havildar Surjit Kumar, who interacted with the cadets and lauded their efforts.
Colonel Misqith appreciated the school administration and the NCC unit for organizing the event, commending Hilal Ahmad Mir for his continuous contribution towards fostering discipline, unity, and service among youth.
The officers also spoke about the cultural and historical legacy of Vande Mataram, describing it as a symbol of patriotism and national pride. They urged students to uphold these values in their personal and social lives.
The newly established NCC unit at BHSS Kralpora is expected to play a significant role in shaping young minds, instilling leadership, and preparing them for roles in both civil and defense sectors.
The event concluded with the plantation of saplings around the school campus, symbolizing growth, unity, and environmental stewardship.
The school administration extended heartfelt thanks to the visiting officers, staff members, and especially NCC Officer Hilal Ahmad Mir for his commitment and leadership that ensured the programme’s success.
