SRINAGAR: As Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to introduce three bills in Lok Sabha today including a Constitution Amendment bill, a bill to amend the Union Territories Act, 1963 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2025, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah left for Delhi on Wednesday.
Farooq Abdullah departed for the national capital this morning ahead of the tabling of the bills.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to table three bills in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, a Constitution Amendment Bill, a bill to amend the Union Territories Act, 1963, and the JK Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Contrary to speculation of sweeping constitutional changes, sources suggest the amendment bills are limited in scope.
“The JK Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill is expected to introduce a provision mandating the removal of a Chief Minister or Minister from office if they remain in judicial custody for 30 consecutive days in connection with an offence carrying a sentence of five years or more.” (KINS)
