Nasir Aslam Wani Given Cabinet Minister Rank – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, has been accorded the rank and status of a cabinet minister.

An order stated that Wani will now be entitled to a consolidated monthly allowance of Rs 80,000, along with rent-free accommodation and transport facilities provided by the Motor Garages Department.

Wani made an unsuccessful bid for the Assembly after losing to Peoples’ Democratic Party candidate Fayaz Mir in the last elections.

A veteran politician from Sogam, Kupwara, Wani has previously served the State as Minister of State for Tourism & Culture, Housing & Urban Development, PHE, Revenue & Relief, and later held the Home department as an additional portfolio between 2008 and 2014.

He is the grandson of the late Ghulam Nabi Wani Sogami, a noted politician, and is considered a close and trusted aide of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
