Srinagar/Jammu, Jul 11: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) on Friday announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various areas of Kashmir and Jammu divisions to facilitate essential maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and system strengthening works.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, several shutdowns will be undertaken in Srinagar and adjoining areas to facilitate relocation, conductor stringing, branch cutting, and other technical works under various schemes, including the RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme). As per the schedule, to carry out the relocation of old and wooden frames of the 33KV Exhibition line inside PCR Batamaloo, shutdown of the 33KV GIS Tengpora–Exhibition line will be observed.
Consequently, the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Batamaloo and Exhibition shall remain off, affecting power supply to Batamaloo, PCR, HSHS, Baranpathri and adjoining areas from 6 am to 1 pm on July 13.
Similarly, to facilitate the stringing of conductors from BK Pora to Khanda under the RDSS Scheme, shutdown of the 33KV BK Pora–Khanda tap line will be carried out.
The 33/11KV Receiving Station at Khanda shall remain off, leading to power supply disruption in Chattergam, Magraypora, Suthsoo, Gowherpora and adjoining areas from 8 am to 1 pm on July 14 and 16.
In addition to undertaking branch cutting of trees and stabilisation of transmission lines, a major shutdown of several 33 kV feeders has been scheduled. On this account 33 kV Alasteng Power House line will remain shut, affecting receiving stations at Powerhouse Manigam, Duderhama, and Contingency Plant.
Power supply will be disrupted to Beehama, Arampora, Arch, Nunner, Manigam, Duderhama, Malshaibagh, Wayil, Gutlibagh and surrounding areas from 8 am to 12 noon on July 16 and 20.
The 33KV Alasteng–Nagbal line shutdown will affect receiving stations at Alasteng, Nagbal, Gadoora, and Tulbagh.
As a result, Shuhama, Bakura, Darend, Nagbal, Fatehpora, Gadoora, Tulbagh, Chunduna, Shairpathri and nearby areas will face outages from 8 am to 12 noon on July 15 and 19.
The 33KV Alasteng–Zakura line will also remain shut, impacting receiving stations at Gulabagh, Ahmadnagar, and Umarhair. Consequently, power will remain affected in Pandach, Pathan Colony, Gulab Bagh, Mir Mohalla, Umarhair, Nowbugh, Ahmad Nagar, 90 Feet Road, Khalmulla and adjoining areas from 8 am to 12 noon on July 15.
Further, to facilitate 11KV reconductoring, conductor stringing, DTR earthing, and transformer tapping, shutdown of the 33KV Badampora–Kurhama–Dab line will be observed.
This will affect receiving stations at Kurhama, Dab, GCET, and Sainik School. As a result, areas including Kurhama, Youngpora, Baroosa, Old Dab, Checki Baba, Sainik School, Rabitar, Kondbal, and GCET Safapora will face power outages from 6 am to 11 am on July 14.
Meanwhile, in the Jammu division, the Chief Engineer, Distribution, JPDCL Jammu has also issued a power shutdown schedule for several areas:
Power supply to Nagrota, Sainik School, Kattal Battal, Narian, Chak Dhoke and adjoining areas will remain affected on July 13 from 7 am to 12 noon.
Similarly, Prabble, Humble, Mangote, and Marmat will face outages on July 12 and 13 from 8 am to 2 pm.
In addition, areas including Jakh, Sarore, Bari-Brahmana town and adjoining industrial zones will experience a power cut on July 13 from 5:30 am to 9:30 pm.
The KPDCL and JPDCL have urged residents and commercial consumers in the affected areas to bear with the inconvenience, as the scheduled shutdowns are crucial for improving the reliability and efficiency of the power infrastructure.
