
Srinagar/Jammu, May 19: An important meeting of the Muslim Personal Law Board Jammu and Kashmir was convened during which detailed deliberations were held on social reform, environmental protection, ethical awareness, family stability, agricultural development, and public welfare. The meeting underlined that the establishment of a healthy, dignified, self-reliant, and civilized society necessitates collective awareness, practical engagement, and sustained moral responsibility.
The meeting unanimously adopted several significant resolutions, including the transformation of the “No to Plastic” campaign into a mass public movement against excessive plastic use, promotion of the abolition of interest-based financial systems, encouragement of halal trade and self-reliance, stringent action against food adulteration, protection of Dal Lake and other water bodies, promotion of plantation drives, prevention of illegal deforestation, safeguarding of agricultural land, and advancement of natural farming practices.
Expressing concern over rising unemployment, the meeting described the agriculture sector as a viable pathway for employment generation and youth self-reliance. It also advocated shared transportation systems and the adoption of a simplified lifestyle to address pollution and traffic congestion arising from excessive vehicle usage.
The meeting voiced serious concern over moral decline, increasing divorce rates, and challenges confronting the family structure. It emphasized character building, tolerance, mutual respect, responsible upbringing of children, and the promotion of ethical and religious values. It further stressed the need to equip the younger generation with the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah alongside modern education, technological competence, and intellectual awareness.
Participants urged the government, social institutions, educational centres, religious leadership, media, and the public to ensure effective implementation of these resolutions in order to foster a safer, more progressive, and civilized society.
The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Muslim Personal Law Board Jammu and Kashmir and the Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir. It was attended by Vice President of the Board Syed Mohammad Aslam Andrabi, General Secretary Professor Mohammad Yasin Kermani, Secretary Pirzada Mohammad Amin Shah, President Jammu Province Mufti Nazir Qadri, along with Qari Ali Hussain from Ramban, Haji Maulana Tariq Ali Batote, Syed Shabir Gilani of Sadat International, Waris Ali Shah Saha, Ghulam Nabi Bajdad, Mohammad Shafi Kargil, Mohammad Ashraf Andrabi, Syed Latif Beerwah, Mohammad Ibrahim Boda from Islamabad, Arshad Hussain Snai from Budgam, Ghulam Hassan Rahmani from Kulgam, Shaukat Ali Andrabi from Pulwama, Abdul Salam Mir, and other social, religious, and public representatives.
