MP Er. Rashid Moved to Tihar Jail No. 1 After ‘Attack By Inmates’ – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: Independent Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid has been transferred to Jail Number 1 of Delhi’s Tihar Prison following an alleged attack inside the jail complex recently.

The party said that Er. Rashid was shifted after the incident prompted concerns over his personal security and the overall safety arrangements for inmates.

“The party supremo was assaulted by a group of inmates during a routine interaction period,” said the party.

The party has demanded for an independent inquiry, stating that “such incidents raise serious questions about custodial protection and the rights guaranteed under law.” They also urged that “security should not be selective and must extend to all inmates irrespective of their political or social background.”

Elected as an independent MP from Baramulla in the 2024 parliamentary elections while in detention, Rashid has been lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a case under investigation by national agencies.
