Modi govt committed to statehood: Sat Sharma

Jammu, Jul 21: J&K BJP President Sat Sharma today said that the central government headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.

He was talking to media persons after inaugurating a TV showroom at Janipur here. “The Prime Minister has made a commitment for statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The statehood is going to happen and it is a fact,” Sharma said.

The BJP leader alleged that Congress is unnecessary making a hue and cry on statehood. “ Infact Congress never wanted Jammu and Kashmir to progress,”he said.

It may be recalled here that Congress has launched a campaign in Jammu and Kashmir in support of the demand for statehood restoration. Senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge ( Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha) and Rahul Gandhi (Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha) recently wrote a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing him to restore the statehood to J&K. They have urged him for bringing in a legislation by his government in the parliament for this purpose during the ongoing Moonsoon session.

Addressing the inauguration function of TV showroom Sat Sharma said, “Small and medium enterprises play a crucial role in building a self-reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat). I appreciate the initiative taken by the youth in stepping into entrepreneurship and generating employment. This new TVS outlet will not only provide quality service and products to the people of Jammu but will also open up new job opportunities for the local youth,” Sat Sharma stated.

He further added that Jammu is witnessing significant infrastructure and commercial growth, thanks to the pro-development policies of the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the Union Territory. He assured that the BJP would continue to support youth-driven business initiatives that contribute positively to society and the economy
