SRINAGAR: Iftkhar Ahmed, MLA Rajouri raised critical issues in the Assembly Srinagar on Wednesday highlighting the continued neglect of the Jammu region by the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Despite the devastation caused by recent floods, the Prime Minister has not visited Jammu even once, reflecting the Centre’s apathy toward the region. Modi ji only comes to Jammu for votes, not when the people need support.

MLA Iftkhar Ahmed spoke passionately about the struggles of Daily Wagers, Casual Labourers, Contractual, Need-Based, and Construction Workers, calling for justice, regularization, and fair wages. He also demanded the immediate release of MLA Mehraj Malik, who has been illegally booked under the PSA, emphasizing the importance of protecting democratic rights.

The MLA further highlighted the delay in constructing the Mini Secretariat in Rajouri, describing it as a clear example of the government’s step-motherly treatment of the region.

The people of Jammu demand, Immediate release of MLA Mehraj Malik. Justice, fair wages, and regularization for Daily Wagers, Casual Labourers, Contractual, Need-Based, and Construction Workers. Early construction of the Mini Secretariat Rajouri. An end to ongoing discrimination against Jammu.

MLA Iftkhar Ahmed stated: “Jammu will not remain silent — our workers, leaders, and citizens deserve justice, equality, and real development, not empty promises and vote-driven visits.”
