Minor Girl’s Death Case in G’bl Solved Within 48 Hours; Elder Sister Arrested, Says Police – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have cracked the case of a 14-year-old girl’s mysterious death within two days, arresting her 22-year-old elder sister for her alleged role in the killing.

The body of the minor was recovered on Sunday under suspicious circumstances from fields near Batsar–Sehpora road, barely 300 meters from her residence. The incident had sent shockwaves across the locality.

Initial reports suggested that unknown persons travelling in a car might have been behind the crime, and during the course of time Police immediately secured the spot, collected forensic samples, and initiated medico-legal formalities.

To alleviate the concerns of the family and locals, SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, addressed a press conference during which he, as per Alfaaz – The Words, said that a special investigation team was formed and technical as well as forensic evidence was thoroughly examined. “During the course of inquiry, it came to light that the deceased’s elder sister was directly involved. She has been arrested,” he said.

Explaining the sequence of events, police said that the two sisters had gone out together when an argument broke out between them. The altercation soon turned violent, with the 22-year-old striking her younger sister with a rod, causing her death.

The police officer further said that the accused initially attempted to mislead both the family and police by claiming that unknown men had tried to abduct them. “However, sustained questioning and corroboration with forensic findings confirmed her involvement.”

“The sibling confessed to the crime. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered, and the accused is in custody. The motive has also been established, and further details will be shared as the investigation progresses,” the officer added.
