
Srinagar: An unidentified militant was killed and three Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), sustained injuries during a gunfight in the Guddar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.
News agency GNS quoted a senior police officer as saying that the encounter erupted after security forces, comprising Army, Police, and CRPF, launched a search operation following specific intelligence inputs about militant presence in the area.
“In the exchange of fire, one militant was neutralised. Three soldiers, including a JCO, were injured, one of them critically,” the officer said. “The injured personnel were shifted to hospital for treatment.”
Operation in the area continued till last reports came in.
