MFA thanks LG, CM, Health Minister for approving 90 posts for GMC Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 26: The Medical Faculty Association (MFA) Government Medical College (GMC) and Government Dental College (GDC) Srinagar extended its heartfelt gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s administration and the J&K Cabinet, in particular Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister of Health and Medical Education Sakina Itoo for approving the creation of 90 posts including 17 posts of Professors and 73 Associate Professors for GMC Srinagar as per the government Order No 188 JK(HME) of year 2026 dated March 25, 2026. A statement of the MFA issued here said that this significant development would greatly benefit the medical faculty career progression and enhance the overall quality of medical education and healthcare services.

It said that the MFA also appreciates the tireless efforts of Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education for their unwavering support in implementing the 2nd phase of the 3-tier system in both parent medical colleges of J&K.

The statement said that MFA hopes the administration would facilitate the implementation of the career-based promotion scheme in the medical and dental colleges of J&K, addressing the long standing stagnation issue of medical faculty for more motivation and zeal towards academics, research, and patient care.
