MeT issues advisory; warns of rain, thundershower with gusty winds in J-K parts in next 4-6 hours

Srinagar, July 10: The Meteorological department has predicted light to moderate rain and thundershower in parts of Jammu and Kashmir over next 4-6 hours.

In a fresh advisory issued, the MeT department stated that few places of Kashmir division and hilly parts of Jammu may receive intense rain showers, with possibility of landslides and mudslides at few vulnerable places.

The advisory further advised people to suspend shikara and boat ridking in Dal Lake, Wular Lake and other water bodies during next 2-3 hours.

“Generally cloudy with a spell of light to moderate rain/thundershower most likely over Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Badgam, parts of South Kashmir, Poonch & parts of Pirpanjal Range, Chenab Valley & few parts of plains of Jammu during next 4-6 hrs,” MeT advisory reads.

“Few places of Kupwara, Handwara, Baramulla, Gulmarg, Uri, hilly areas of Bandipora, Badgam, many places of Ganderbal & Srinagar, few parts of South Kashmir & Poonch & other few hilly  of Jammu Division may receive intense Rain showers with gusty winds (50-60 KMPH) during next 2-3 hours. Also possibility of landslides/mudslides at few vulnerable places,” it reads.

The advisory urged general public to suspend shikara riding/boating in Dal Lake, Wular Lake and other water bodies during next 2-3 hours.
