Mehbooba asks BJP to study ‘Agenda of Alliance’ with PDP to resolve J&K issue

Jammu, Aug 2; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has asserted that the PDP-BJP Agenda of Alliance (AoA) still remains a relevant document and has asked her erstwhile ally to study it (AoA) to find an “honourable and fair resolution of J&K problem.”

Cautioning against, what she chooses to describe as “gurgling volcano inside the people of J&K in the backdrop of BJP’s arm-twisting, coercive methods and rigid policy,” she, in fact, has described it (AoA) as the “only way-out to resolve J&K issue.”

She stated this while interacting with the media, during her two-day visit to Jammu.

“Contrary to their (BJP’s) claims, the situation in J&K, post Article 370, has deteriorated on all accounts. BJP’s policy only saw thousands of youth languishing in jails under UAPA and PSA, rising unemployment, increase in crimes, terror activities and looting of natural resources. Six years down the line, even it (BJP) knows that its policy has failed to bring about a positive turnaround in Kashmir,” Mehbooba maintained.

“Hence I request them (BJP) to study AoA, which also contains good recommendations of the Working Groups constituted by the Congress led UPA government. It talked about opening of Cross LoC routes, establishing peace, and restoring honour and dignity to people of J&K. I presume this (AoA) is the only way out for an honourable resolution of the J&K issue,” she said, while reiterating her call for resumption of dialogue with Pak.

PDP president stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, given an overwhelming authority at his command, was in a good position to peacefully resolve this issue for once and all.
