SRINAGAR: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday issued a medium-level avalanche warning for higher altitude areas of Ganderbal and Kupwara districts following a fresh spell of wet weather in the Valley.
An official from the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority stated that avalanches are likely above 2,600 metres in these districts over the next 24 hours.
Residents have been advised to avoid movement in vulnerable and avalanche-prone areas until the advisory remains in effect.
The alert comes after recent rainfall in the plains and snowfall in the upper reaches of Kashmir.
