SRINAGAR: The Municipal Council Baramulla has issued a strict circular warning individuals and entities against carrying out any construction activities within its jurisdiction without obtaining mandatory prior permission from the competent authority.
According to the circular, such activities violate provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act and prescribed building regulations. “No person, group, or organization shall initiate any form of construction, residential, commercial, industrial, or institutional — within the municipal limits without securing prior permission,” the circular states.
The directive emphasizes the need to uphold regulatory compliance, ensure structural safety, and maintain orderly urban development in line with approved land use norms.
The Council warned that any unauthorized construction would invite strict penal action, including fines, sealing of premises, and even demolition of illegal structures as warranted under law.
Citizens have been advised to apply for construction permissions via the Online Building Permission System (OBPS) Portal and can seek guidance from the Building Permission Cell during office hours.
The circular, issued by Chief Executive Officer Arhona, takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders. (KNC)
