Jammu: Apni Party’s Provincial President, Jammu, and former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, has urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to compensate farmers in the Jammu region for the losses they suffered due to heavy rain and hailstorm.
According to a press statement, party leaders held a meeting at the Apni Party office in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, to deliberate on the losses suffered by the people.
“The poor farmers have suffered significant losses as their standing crops were damaged, leaving them helpless,” the former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, said.
He added that the government should order a ground-level survey to assess the extent of the losses and ensure that farmers are adequately compensated.
In the last several days, Jammu has recorded sudden rainfall and a change in the weather due to western disturbances, which has brought down the high temperatures and made the weather a bit cold.
The situation has caused uneasiness among farmers, fruit growers, and vegetable growers. Therefore, the government should assess the situation and address the grievances of the farmers and other affected people.
