SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district carried out a special enforcement drive as part of their ongoing action against unauthorised service providers in the tourist destination of Sonamarg.

During the operation, one person, identified as Muzafar Ahmad Khatana, a resident of Sumbal Bala Gund in Ganderbal, was found operating at the resort using a forged license. Police registered FIR No. 04/2026 under relevant sections at Police Station Sonamarg and initiated an investigation, officials said.

Police also stated that in earlier drives, 23 unauthorised service providers were detained and fined for violating provisions of the Tourist Trade Act, 1978.

Reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a safe and regulated environment for tourists, police urged all stakeholders to follow legal norms and advised visitors to use only authorised and registered service providers.
