Man arrested with heroin in Banihal

Ramban, Dec 3: Ramban Police on Wednesday arrested a man after recovering 14.62 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession during routine naka checking in Banihal, Police said on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Saqib Bashir Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Bhat Mohalla Khunmoh, Tehsil Pantha Chowk, District Srinagar.

Police said that the recovery was made when a team from Police Station Banihal intercepted the suspect during surveillance duty. The substance was seized on the spot as per legal formalities.

An FIR, number 128/2025, has been registered at Police Station Banihal under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act.

Further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile the Police have reiterated their commitment to making Ramban drug-free and have urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities related to narcotics.
