Kupwara: MLA Lolab Qaysar Jamshaid Lone has urged the government to take up reconstruction of the Badibera and Gangbugh bridges on the Kupwara–Sogam road, stating that the structures are in a deteriorated condition and require urgent intervention.
In a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, the MLA said both bridges are old single lane installations that have completed their lifespan and are presently in a damaged and dilapidated state.
He noted that the road serves as a crucial connectivity link for Lolab Valley, catering to a population of over three lakh residents. The condition of the bridges, he said, affects smooth movement of traffic and poses inconvenience to commuters.
Lone requested that construction of new bridges at both locations be sanctioned under an appropriate plan during the financial year 2026–27 to ensure safer and reliable connectivity for the people of the region.
He emphasised that improved infrastructure on this route is essential for uninterrupted access to essential services and daily travel needs.
