LG Sinha Urges IRMS Trainees to Build Tech-Driven Railways for Developed India | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, interacted with Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) Officer Trainees at Lok Bhavan, Jammu, on Tuesday, urging them to prioritise technology-driven railway infrastructure to support a developed India.

During the session, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised that Indian Railways is more than tracks and trains, describing it as the “circulatory system of India’s aspirations” that drives economic growth, promotes social cohesion, and connects industry with communities across the country.

Sinha highlighted the importance of using operational, passenger, and freight data through scientific analysis to optimise service delivery, improve demand forecasting, reduce accident risks, and strengthen railway infrastructure. He added that smart technology can transform Indian Railways into a passenger-first mobility network fit for the 21st century.

Speaking on the freight sector, he underscored the role of dedicated freight corridors, modern logistics terminals, and integrated digital platforms in making transport faster, cheaper, and more competitive, thereby reducing costs for industries and boosting the economy. He also stressed the need to develop a multimodal logistics network linking railways with road and other transport modes.

The Lieutenant Governor encouraged the trainees to face challenges with national interest as their priority. “Every file, every decision, and every order you make must have the ultimate objective of serving the nation and building a developed India,” he said.

The IRMS Officer Trainees are visiting Jammu and Kashmir as part of the Bharat Darshan programme. The session was attended by Mandeep K Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, Course Directors Rahul (Traffic Planning and Costing) and Pranjalya Parth Lathe (Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management), along with other senior officials.
