LG Sinha Unveils 108-ft National Flag Mast at Akhnoor on Vijay Diwas | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Vijay Diwas on Tuesday unveiled a 108-feet high mast National Flag at Kachrial in the Akhnoor sector, paying tribute to the martyrs, soldiers and officers who displayed valour and made the nation proud during the 1971 war.

The Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the fallen heroes and later felicitated war veterans and Veer Naris, saluting their courage and sacrifices for the country. He said Kachrial holds immense historical and national significance, recalling the supreme sacrifices made by soldiers during the 1965 and 1971 wars while defending the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

Congratulating the General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps (16 Corps), Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra for the installation of the high mast Tricolour, the Lieutenant Governor described the initiative as a thoughtful gesture. He also appreciated the Flag Foundation of India for its contribution to the project.

“The Tricolour is a symbol of our freedom, self-respect, sacrifices and martyrdom. May our beloved and victorious National Flag fly high across the world as we move together towards the vision of making India a developed nation,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The ceremony was attended by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, ARI and Trainings, Satish Sharma; General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma; Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, GOC White Knight Corps; Major General H.S. Brar, GOC 10 RAPID; Brigadier Dayanand Sharma, Commander Pallanwala Brigade; Major General (Retd) Ashim Kohli, Chief Executive Officer of the Flag Foundation of India, along with senior officials, war veterans, Veer Naris and students.
