
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday urged young people and sportspersons to set ambitious goals and pursue them with determination, as he inaugurated the sixth edition of the Kashmiri Pandit Premier League (KPPL) at MA Stadium in Jammu.
Addressing participants, Sinha said sport had the power to transform individuals, society and the nation. He emphasised the need for youth to believe in themselves, uphold shared values and remain focused in order to strengthen national identity and unity.
The Lieutenant Governor extended his greetings to all players and organisers, reaffirming that the Government of India and the Union Territory administration, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, remained committed to the welfare of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
Sinha also praised the Lalitaditya Sports Education and Health Organization for its contribution to promoting sports, and encouraged its members to collaborate with schools and government departments across states and Union Territories to engage more young people.
He further called for a long-term roadmap to empower Kashmiri Pandit youth, highlighting the need to integrate skill development and career-oriented initiatives, building on programmes such as the LG Special Camp.
The event was attended by senior officials and dignitaries, including Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua; Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) JK; and Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of JK Sports Council. Members of the Lalitaditya organisation, prominent citizens and sportspersons were also present.
