
Srinagar: In a major push to revive tourism ahead of the upcoming travel season, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced the immediate reopening of 14 tourist destinations across the Union Territory.
In a series of posts on X, as per Alfaaz – The Words, the Lieutenant Governor stated that 11 tourist spots in the Kashmir Division and three in the Jammu Division have been cleared for reopening with immediate effect. He further informed that four additional destinations will be opened to visitors once snow clearance operations are completed and road connectivity is fully restored.
According to the announcement, the destinations reopening in the Kashmir Division include Yousmarg and Doodhpathri in Budgam district; Dandipora Park in Kokernag; Peer Ki Gali, Dubjan and Padpawan in Shopian; Astanpora and the Tulip Garden in Srinagar; Thajwas Glacier and Hung Park in Ganderbal; and Wullar/Watlab in Baramulla.
In the Jammu Division, Devi Pindi in Reasi, Mahu Mangat in Ramban, and Mughal Maidan in Kishtwar have also been approved for immediate reopening.
The Lieutenant Governor added that three high-altitude destinations in the Kashmir Division, Gurez, Athwatoo and Bangus, along with Ramkund in Ramban district of the Jammu Division, will be reopened after snow is cleared and the areas are declared safe for public access.
