SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday visited the Mata Sidh Lakshmi Temple at Teerathraj Lok Bhawan, Anantnag, on the occasion of Harbah Utsav. He participated in the Mahayagya organised by the Teerathraj Sidh Lakshmi Peeth Trust and offered prayers for peace and well-being in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor interacted with devotees and extended greetings. He said the occasion was an opportunity to raise awareness about spiritual traditions that recognise and respect diverse religious paths.
Calling for unity and mutual respect, the Lieutenant Governor said society must promote compassion and selfless service. He urged the youth to treat all people with respect and work towards building a society based on equality and fairness.
He further appealed to the public to identify and isolate those who, at the behest of Pakistan, attempt to disturb communal harmony. He said such elements are opposed to peace and development, and unity is necessary to counter them.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the Anantnag district administration for improving facilities at the shrine and conveyed best wishes to the devotees ahead of the Mahakaal pilgrimage.
Speaking to the media, the Lieutenant Governor said there is a shared atmosphere of religious observance across Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that the Amarnath Yatra is being conducted peacefully, Muharram processions were carried out without incident, and people from different communities are participating in festivals across the region.
Earlier in the day, the Lieutenant Governor visited the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam to review the arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. He interacted with pilgrims, service providers, langar organisers, and sanitation workers, and inspected the facilities in place.
He also chaired a meeting with civil and security officials to assess preparedness and discussed queue management and other logistical measures. He noted the contributions of multiple stakeholders in supporting the yatra.
The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, Principal Secretary to LG and CEO of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board; IGP Kashmir V K Birdi; Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid; and other senior officers from police, district administration, SASB, and security agencies.
