SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday visited the Nunwan and Chandanwari base camps to review arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, set to commence on July 3.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor inaugurated a foot overbridge at the Nunwan Base Camp to facilitate smooth movement of pilgrims. The structure is aimed at easing security checks and reducing waiting time.
He reviewed the functioning of various essential services including lodging, langar, power and water supply, sanitation, healthcare, traffic regulation, fire and emergency services, and the deployment of security forces. He also assessed the progress of the Disaster Management Centre and Yatri Niwas at Nunwan.
The Lieutenant Governor interacted with officials from civil administration and security forces to take stock of overall arrangements. He directed telecom companies to appoint dedicated nodal officers at both Yatra axes to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for pilgrims.
At the Chandanwari Base Camp Hospital, LG Sinha interacted with medical teams and reviewed the healthcare facilities available for the Yatris. “It is our top priority to ensure that devotees of Shri Amarnath Ji complete their pilgrimage with ease and their stay is safe and comfortable,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the LG and CEO, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board; Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri; IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi; Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid; and other senior officials from the district administration, SASB, police, and security forces.
