LG Orders Home Department Offices to Function in Both Srinagar and Jammu During Winter

SRINAGAR: The Jammu Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday ordered that all key subordinate offices under the Home Department will function simultaneously from Srinagar and Jammu during the upcoming winter season 2025–26.

According to Government Order No. 522–Home of 2025, issued by Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti (IAS), the decision has been taken to ensure smooth functioning of administrative work and uninterrupted delivery of public services during the winter months.

The order states that the offices that will function simultaneously from both Srinagar and Jammu include the Police Headquarters, JK along with associated offices, the Prisons Headquarters, the Directorate of Prosecution, the Police Housing Corporation, the Headquarters of Homeguards, Civil Defence and SDRF, the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services, the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory, the Directorate of Sainik Welfare Department, and the Directorate of Defence Labour Procurement.

The government has directed the Heads of Departments to make equitable arrangements ensuring the availability of officers and officials at both Srinagar and Jammu offices throughout the period.
