SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday urged people to organise daily or weekly evening aartis in towns and villages along riverbanks across Jammu Division in collaboration with local communities, emphasising the need to preserve cultural and spiritual traditions.
Speaking at the Shri Raghunath Ji Jammu Aarti organised by Shri Raghunath Ji Ki Jammu Aarti Sanstha, the Lieutenant Governor said such initiatives would help reconnect society, particularly the younger generation, with India’s rich cultural heritage and spiritual legacy.
He described evening aarti as a “discipline of the soul” and a means to promote introspection, gratitude and inner awareness in today’s fast-paced world.
Highlighting the broader vision, Sinha said efforts are underway to develop Jammu, known as the “City of Temples”, into a global centre of spirituality and a key destination for religious tourism. He added that organised aartis at sacred sites such as Raghunath Temple would enhance the spiritual experience of pilgrims visiting the region, including devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi and Baba Amarnath.
The Lieutenant Governor also stressed the importance of such gatherings in promoting self-realisation and instilling spiritual values among youth, calling it a vital part of the region’s cultural inheritance.
Prominent citizens, devotees and officials, including Sanstha chairperson Ritu Singh, were present on the occasion.
