Lady among two drug peddlers held with contraband substance in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar, Aug 09: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two drug peddlers including a lady drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police spokesperson said that a police post Old Town Baramulla received specific information from reliable sources that a woman wife of Reyaz Ahmad Khan, resident of Punchetra Janbazpora Baramulla, had concealed charas-like substance in her house. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 144/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Baramulla. Acting swiftly, a raid was conducted at the suspected house in the presence of Executive Magistrate and three independent witnesses. During search, 215 grams of charas-like substance, wrapped in maize husks and concealed in a black polythene inside a black purse, was recovered and the accused was immediately arrested.

Similarly, the police spokesperson said a police party led by SHO PS Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Chichilora Kunzer intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01BA-9539. During checking, 07 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused (driver) has been identified as Habil Yaseen Dar, son of Mohammad Yaseen Dar, resident of Tarhama. The accused was arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 80/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Kunzer.
