Kupwara: Labour Commissioner J&K, S. Charandeep Singh, on Tuesday chaired an interactive session with transporters, business owners, industrialists, private school associations, and construction workers in Kupwara to address labour-related concerns and strengthen welfare outreach.
The meeting, organized by the Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, focused on the implementation of labour laws, workplace compliance, and issues raised by local stakeholders. Singh on the occasion held direct discussions with participants, responding to grievances and clarifying provisions of existing labour regulations.
On the eve, financial assistance cheques were handed over to registered Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) under the Welfare Scheme, covering support for medical needs, higher education of children, and relief to dependents of deceased workers.
The Commissioner underlined that the Labour Department’s priority is both social security for workers and strict adherence to regulations by employers.
Awareness sessions on central social security schemes including PMSBY, PMJJBY, and PMSYM were also held.
Officials said the Kupwara session is part of ongoing departmental efforts to improve transparency and direct engagement with stakeholders across Jammu and Kashmir.
