Kupwara Police Seize Narcotics, Arrest Two During Naka Checking – Alfaaz – The Words

Kupwara: Police in Kupwara intercepted a vehicle and recovered narcotics during routine naka checking near Batergam on Tuesday.

Officials said that a Police team from Police Station Kupwara stopped a suspicious Hyundai i10 (registration number JK15A-6188) moving towards Kupwara. The driver reportedly attempted to flee but was apprehended by alert personnel.

The driver was identified as Afaq Mohiuddin Bhat, son of Gh. Mohiuddin Bhat, and the passenger as Muneeba Begum, wife of Mehrajudin Bhat, both residents of Aloosa, Bandipore. Upon checking, heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of the female passenger.

Police have registered FIR No. 261/2025 under relevant provisions of law at Police Station Kupwara. Further investigation is underway.

Authorities reiterated their resolve to continue the fight against drug menace and urged the public to extend cooperation in curbing the illicit trade.
