Kupwara: In a swift operation, Kupwara Police have solved a burglary case reported from Rang Warnow Lolab, successfully recovering stolen property including cash and gold jewellery.
On August 21, 2025, Police Post Lalpora received a written complaint from Ab Rashid Mughal, son of Mohd Saliman Mughal, resident of Rang Warnow Lolab, stating that unknown burglars had broken into his house during the intervening night of July 16/17 while he was away in Srinagar. The intruders decamped with cash and gold ornaments.
Acting promptly, Police Station Lalpora registered a case under FIR No. 47/2025 U/S 331(4), 305 BNS and initiated a thorough investigation. Multiple suspects were questioned during the probe. With sustained efforts, the police zeroed in on two individuals identified as Ab Rashid Hajam, son of Mohd Younis Hajam, and Mohd Aslam Chechi, son of Bagoo Chechi, both residents of Lolab.
During questioning, the duo confessed to their involvement in the crime. On their disclosure, police recovered ₹95,000 in cash and a gold ring, which had been concealed at their residences.
Both accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
