Kupwara: In strict compliance with recent government directives aimed at curbing the dissemination of secessionist propaganda and false narratives in Jammu and Kashmir, Kupwara Police on Thursday carried out coordinated search operations across multiple bookshops in the district, said a police spokesperson in a media statement.

“This action follows credible intelligence inputs highlighting the dangerous role played by certain publications in radicalizing youth, glorifying terrorism, and promoting anti-national sentiments — often under the guise of politico-historical commentary,” reads the statement as per Alfaaz – The Words.

“Acting upon specific inputs and in accordance with the government’s decision to ban approximately 25 such publications, Kupwara Police teams thoroughly inspected the inventory of various bookshops to identify and seize any literature contributing to the spread of extremist ideologies.”

“The banned material, frequently disguised as socio-political or historical analysis, has been found to distort facts, glorify terrorists, vilify security forces, and cultivate a narrative of victimhood and alienation — thereby influencing vulnerable minds and pushing them toward violence and terrorism,” reads the statement.

“Kupwara Police remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region and will continue to act firmly against any attempt to misguide the youth or incite unrest through such malicious propaganda,” concludes the statement.
