Kupwara Admin Steps In After Spate of Dog Bite Incidents in Lolab – Alfaaz – The Words

Kupwara: The district administration in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has stepped in after multiple dog bite incidents were reported from various parts of Lolab over the past several days, triggering fear among residents.

Officials told Alfaaz – The Words, that on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, a special team has been deputed to the affected areas to assess the situation and take immediate preventive measures. “The team is coordinating with Municipal authorities, Animal Husbandry and other concerned departments to control the stray dog population.”

The intervention following a report by Alfaaz – The Words, in the aftermath of a series of dog attacks that left several people injured, including elderly residents, prompting concerns over public safety, particularly for women and children.

Locals have welcomed the administration’s prompt response, saying the situation has eased to some extent. However, residents have raised concerns over the reported non-availability of Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV) at health facilities in Lolab and urged the administration currently under Shrikant Balasaheb Suse to ensure adequate supplies at Primary and Community Health Centres.

Officials have in the meanwhile informed that coordinated efforts will continue to address the issue and appealed to the public to cooperate with field teams and report any fresh incidents promptly.
