KU Professor Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Mir Honoured with Breast Cancer Awareness & Care Excellence Award – Alfaaz – The Words

Srinagar: Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Associate Professor Department of Bioresources at the University of Kashmir, has been conferred with the Breast Cancer Awareness & Care Excellence Award for 2025 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to cancer research and public health initiatives.

The award was presented by Union Health Minister Ashwani Kumar Chaubey, Joint Health Secretary Sujaya Krishnan, and Director of the Indian Health and Wellness (IHW), Kamal N. Omer, at 7th Cancer Summit Awards in New Delhi.

Dr. Mir, who is recognised among the top 2% of global scientists by Stanford University for 2023-2024, is a leading expert in immunology, with a special focus on breast cancer. Over his 15-year career, he has published more than 75 research papers and authored over 15 books covering molecular mechanisms and immunotherapy, contributing significantly to the understanding and management of cancer.

Dr. Mir in a message, as per Alfaaz – The Words, expressed his gratitude to colleagues, mentors, and well-wishers, and emphasised the importance of continued awareness and early intervention in breast cancer. He called on individuals and institutions to contribute actively toward reducing the incidence and mortality associated with the disease, particularly on the occasion of World Cancer Day.

The award highlights Dr. Mir’s dedication not only to scientific research but also to fostering awareness, education, and care practices that can positively impact patient outcomes. His work has positioned him as a prominent figure in both regional and national efforts to advance cancer research, promote preventive measures, and implement effective therapeutic strategies.
