
SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across multiple districts of Kashmir over the coming week to facilitate maintenance works on key 33 KV transmission lines.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, electricity supply will remain affected in parts of Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Pulwama, Anantnag and Bandipora districts between December 23 and December 28, with shutdowns lasting between three and five hours on different days.
In Srinagar, power supply to Deewan Colony, Shalimar-Arabal, SKUAST and adjoining areas will remain suspended on December 24 from 11 am to 3 pm due to a shutdown of the 33 KV GIS Harwan–Shalimar line. On the same day, the 33 KV Bemina–JVC line shutdown will disrupt power to JVC Hospital, Children’s Hospital, State Motor Garage, Hajj House, Forensic Lab, PC Depot, Qamarwari and Barthana during the same hours.
In Budgam district, shutdown of the 33 KV Ahmadpora–Beerwa and Ahmadpora–Magam lines on December 23 from 10 am to 2 pm will affect electricity supply to Beerwa, Sonpah, Najan, Arizal, Zanigam, Gandipora, Doodhpathry, Arwah, Mazhama, Old Sanoor, Aripanthan, Magam and nearby areas.
Kupwara district will witness disruption on December 24 from 10 am to 3.30 pm as the 33 KV Arampora–Kupwara Old line is taken up for maintenance, affecting power supply to Lolab Valley and Machil Valley.
In Bandipora district, the 33 KV Amargarh–Bandipora line will be shut down on December 27 from 10 am to 3.30 pm, impacting areas including Watlab, Dooru, Tujjar, Hathalangoo, Botingoo, Warpora and Khunusa.
Similarly, a shutdown of the 33 KV Nihalpora–Gulmarg line on December 28 from 10 am to 3.30 pm will affect power supply to Tangmarg, Gulmarg, Babareshi, Ferozpora, Kulhama, Cable Car area, Khyber, Chandil, Wanigam, Malpora and adjoining villages.
In Pulwama district, electricity supply to Samboora, Lethpora, CRPF camp, Ladhoo, Konibal, Chandhara and LIS areas will remain affected on December 24 from 9 am to 3 pm due to shutdown of the 33 KV Pampore–Lethpora line.
Additionally, shutdowns of the 33 KV Wanpoh–Ashajipora and Wanpoh–Malaknag lines on December 23 and December 25 from 10 am to 3 pm will disrupt power supply to Ashajipora, Dialgam, Malaknag, Hazratbal, Brakpora, Doonipawa and surrounding areas.
KPDCL has advised consumers to make necessary arrangements in advance and has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused, stating that the shutdowns are essential for ensuring system reliability and uninterrupted power supply in the long run.
