
SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across multiple districts in October to facilitate essential maintenance, replacement, and upgradation works on various 33 KV and 132 KV lines.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the shutdowns are necessary for transformer replacement, shifting of electrical utilities, pruning of trees, and stabilisation of feeders under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The outages will affect several areas between October 5th and 29th, with timings generally from 8:30 or 9:30 AM to 3:00 or 4:00 PM, depending on the feeder.
On October 6, the 33 KV Arampora Feeder will remain shut for transformer replacement at Grid Station Amargarh, affecting power supply to Arampora, Pazipora, Sher Colony and Bugoo. Similarly, the Budgam SIDCO line will be shut on October 5, impacting Budgam town, Ompora and adjoining areas.
The schedule also includes outages in Sopore, Bandipora, Ganderbal, and Srinagar. Notably, on October 9th and 13, the Wangipora-Batwina Tap Line will remain shut for shifting of utilities, affecting Batwina, Wangipora, Nowgam and adjoining villages. On October 8th, Hajin and its surrounding areas will face disruption due to stabilisation works on the Hajin Tapline.
In Srinagar, major feeders including Wanganpora-Soura-SKIMS, Habak-Owantabhawan, Khanyar-Rainawari, Zakura-Burzuhama, Habak-Hazratbal, Lalbazar, and several Cheshmashahi lines will undergo shutdowns on different dates between October 8th and 23. These will impact localities such as Soura, Nowshehra, Lalbazar, Hazratbal, Zakura, Nishat, TRC, Sonwar and Rajbhawan. Industrial areas including Khunmoh and SIDCO will also experience outages on October 19th and 22.
Furthermore, Pampore-Badamibagh and Bemina-B.B. Shah feeders will face shutdowns on October 25th, 28th and 29th, affecting Panthachowk, Sonwar, Badamibagh, Maisuma, Khayam, and adjoining areas.
KPDCL has urged residents, institutions, and industrial units to take note of the schedule and make necessary arrangements during the maintenance period. Officials said the shutdowns are crucial to ensure long-term system stability, reduced power losses, and improved supply quality across Kashmir.
