
SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across multiple districts this month to facilitate tree branch cutting and routine maintenance of high-voltage transmission lines and grid stations.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, power supply will remain affected in various parts of north and central Kashmir on different dates between October 11 and October 28, 2025, as part of ongoing system upgradation and preventive maintenance.
The shutdowns, beginning October 11, will affect areas fed by 33 KV and 132 KV lines, including parts of Baramulla, Sopore, Bandipora, Kupwara, Ganderbal, and Srinagar, from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm (in some cases up to 4.00 pm).
On October 11, power supply will remain suspended in Panzipora, Tarzoo, Hygam, Shair Colony, Arampora, Mahrajpora, Bugoo, and adjoining areas due to shutdown of the 33 KV Arampora line. The same day, Beerwah and adjoining villages will also face outages from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm due to work at the 132/33 KV Grid Substation Magam.
Shutdowns are also scheduled on October 13 and 18 affecting Nowpora, Achabal, Bomai, Seelu, and surrounding areas; and on October 15, 18, and 22 in Wagoora, Sangrama, Watergam, and Kreeri.
In Bandipora, power will remain affected on October 20 and 25 in areas including Watlab, Dooru, and Tujjar Sharief. Likewise, Pattan, Palhalan, and Hamray will face outages on October 19, 21, and 25.
Meanwhile, in the Ganderbal district, shutdown of the 33 KV Kangan-Surfraw and Kangan-Wussan lines will affect Kangan, Gagangeer, Wussan, and nearby areas on October 11 and 15, while the Lar-Tulmulla line will remain off on October 11 and 16.
In Srinagar city and adjoining areas, major maintenance work will be carried out on the 132 KV Zainakote–Wanganpora transmission lines (Circuits I & II) from October 13 to 17, and at Grid Substations Wanganpora and Khanyar on October 23, affecting Kawdara, Khanyar, Safakadal, Soura, and Takanwari.
The Chief Engineer said these shutdowns are necessary to ensure safe and uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming winter months. Residents have been advised to plan accordingly and cooperate with the maintenance teams during the scheduled outages.
