
SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir is set to witness extensive power disruptions throughout October, as the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, announced a series of scheduled shutdowns for maintenance and tree-branch cutting along 33 KV and 132 KV lines. The shutdowns, aimed at ensuring reliable electricity supply, will impact multiple receiving stations and adjoining areas across the region.
According to KPDCL, the 33 KV Shariefabad HMT and Narbal lines will be shut down on October 14, from 09:30 AM to 03:30 PM, affecting Zainakote, Shalteng, Baskhipora, Narbal, Sanoor, Mazhama, Malpora, Kawoosa, Sozeith, Lawaypora, ICCC, Industrial HMT, Mujgund, and surrounding areas. A subsequent shutdown of the 33 KV Shariefabad HMT line on October 16, during the same hours will affect Zainakote, ICCC, Industrial HMT, Shalteng, Mujgund, Bakshipora, and neighbouring localities.

October 12: 33 KV SH Pora and Kawdara line, impacting SH Pora, MR Gunj, Sheerenbagh, Kawdara, Mughal Masjid, Nawa Bazar, Zadibal, Sazgari, Nowhatta, Jamia Masjid, Rajouri Kadal, Gojwara, Narwara and adjoining areas.
October 15: 33 KV Safakadal line, affecting Safakadal, Wanganpora, Saidpora, Noorbagh, Chaidoad, Baghwanpora, Eidgah and nearby areas.
October 18: 33 KV Bemina I & II line, affecting Hamdania Colony, HIG/MIG Colony, Nund Resh Colony, Hamza Colony, Gousia Colony, Sir Syed Abad, Qamarwari, Chattbal, SK Colony, Taushedabad Bemina, Court Complex, Mandi and adjoining areas.
October 19: 33 KV Bemina JVC line and 33 KV Bemina Karan Nagar line, impacting JVC Hospital, Children Hospital, State Motor Garage, Hajj House, Forensic Lab, PC Depot, Qamarwari, Baranpathri, Chatabal, Balgarden, Zaldagar, Police Lines, Civil Secretariat, SMHS Hospital, Gole Market, Guru Bazar, Tankipora, Shaheed Gunj, and surrounding areas.
A comprehensive shutdown affecting multiple Bemina lines—including Barbar Shah, Fatehkadal, KP Bagh, Exhibition, JVC, I and II, and Karan Nagar—will take place on October 26, from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM, disrupting power supply to Fateh Kadal, Khayam, Barbarshah, Basant Bagh, Rakhi Arth, Court Complex, GIS Batamaloo, JVC, PC Depot, Children Hospital, JVC Hospital, Bemina I and II, Shalistore, Karan Nagar, and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, scheduled maintenance on 132 KV lines will also disrupt supply. The 132 KV Habak-Alusteng line will remain off on October 9-11, affecting Zakura, Batapora, Ellahibagh, Habbak, Burzhama, Hazratbal, and Kurhama. Similarly, the 132 KV Habak-Badampora and Kangan-Badampora lines will affect multiple receiving stations, including Kurhama, Central University, Lar, Safapora, GCET Safapora, Sainik School, Dab, Batwina, Nowgam, Wangipora, Panzigam, Ajar, Kanzalwan, Gurez, Nusso, Nadihal, Aloosa, Tujjer, Watlab and surrounding areas on October 12-15.
Additional planned shutdowns across various 33 KV lines will impact areas in Budgam, Pampore, Beerwah, Magam, Tangmarg, Gulmarg, Kongamdara, Kremshore, Khag, and surrounding regions. Most outages are scheduled between 09:30 AM and 04:00 PM, with the specific dates staggered across October to facilitate maintenance, including tree-trimming and the laying of HT AB cables.
Authorities have urged residents and businesses to make necessary arrangements in advance to minimise inconvenience. The KPDCL also assured that these measures are crucial for maintaining grid safety and ensuring uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming winter season.
