KPDCL Announces Area-Wise Power Shutdowns

SRINAGAR: Several areas across Kashmir will face scheduled power shutdowns from August 9 to 14, 2025, due to maintenance, realignment, and infrastructure development works, officials from the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) have announced.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, preventive maintenance will necessitate the shutdown of the 33KV Kanipora–Pinjoora line on August 9 and 12. This will affect the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Arhama, Pinjoora and Chowdrigund. As a result, electricity supply to Pinjoora, Pahnoo, Trenz, Imamasahab, Kiloora, Shirmal, Zawoora, Arhama, Vehil, Kachdora, Nowgam, Reshnagri and Bemnipora will be disrupted from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on both days.

Additionally, a shutdown of the 33KV Lassipora–Landoora line is scheduled on August 10 to facilitate the realignment of the 33KV Landoora line for construction work at Police Station Imam Sahab in Shopian. This will affect receiving stations at Landoora and Moman (STD-Bijbehara), disrupting power supply to Landoora, Mantirbugh, Chookra, Hermain, Hajipora, Frisal, Wachi, Moomin and nearby areas from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Meanwhile, in a separate shutdown order, power supply to Habbak, Hazratbal, and surrounding areas including Kashmir University, NIT Srinagar, and the Hazratbal Shrine will remain off from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm on August 11 due to shifting of the 11KV Habbak F2 line. Shutdown of the 33KV Habbak–Hazratbal line will impact receiving stations at Habbak and Hazratbal.

On the same day, power supply to Saida Kadal, Naidyar, Hassanabad, Mirbehri Dal, Central Jail, Psychiatric Hospital and surrounding areas will be cut from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm owing to shutdown of the 33KV GIS Khanyar–Kathidarwaza line for shifting of the 11KV line near Kathidarwaza main road.

Further, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on August 11 and 14, shutdown of the 33KV Amargarh–Arampora line will affect receiving stations at Arampora, Pazipora, Sher Colony and Bugoo, as the department undertakes stabilisation, reconductoring and HVDS works.

Another scheduled disruption is planned for August 9, when the 33KV Khumriyal–Sogam Tap line will be shut down from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, affecting receiving stations at Sogam, Kresen and Diwer. Areas impacted will include Sogam, Lassipora, Takipora, Gung, Macher, Varnow and adjoining localities.

Separately, the Chief Engineer, JKPTCL Kashmir, has announced a shutdown of the 33KV Shalimar–Harwan line on August 9 to facilitate stringing of conductors for the 220KV Alusteng–Mirbazar Transmission Line ZAMTL Section-II. The shutdown will be in effect from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, impacting receiving stations at Shalimar and Harwan. Power supply will remain affected in Tailbal, Arabal, Parry Chowk, SKUAST, Dara, Darbagh, Theed and adjacent areas.
