Rajouri, Jan 25: The crucial Kotranka–Budhal road in Rajouri district, blocked since Friday due to heavy snowfall, has been partially reopened, restoring connectivity for vehicles and easing hardships for residents of the cut-off subdivision.

The closure of roads left the entire Kotranka subdivision cut off from the rest of the district, causing immense hardships to the local population.

The closure of the road disrupted movement and essential supplies, severely affecting daily life in the sub-division.

The road holds strategic and public importance as it connects Kotranka with the Rajouri district headquarters and also serves as a crucial inter-district link connecting Rajouri with the Reasi and Ramban districts.

In response to the situation, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) launched an aggressive snow clearance operation, and the teams worked relentlessly, carrying out night-long clearance operations during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday to restore connectivity.

After sustained efforts, the BRO has finally managed to restore partial connectivity on the road, providing much-needed relief to lakhs of people dependent on this route.

Tehsildar Kotranka, Syed Sahil Ali, said that the road has been restored after a gap of two days and the restoration of the road was very important to bring life back to normal.

Authorities have advised commuters to remain cautious while traveling, as clearance work is still underway to ensure full restoration of the road.
