SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Chasoti village in Kishtwar district on Saturday to evaluate the destruction caused by the recent flash flood.

During the visit, CM Omar received a detailed briefing from Indian Army personnel deployed in the area. He also used a Virtual Reality (VR) headset to get a comprehensive view of the flood-affected zones and the extent of the damage.

Officials accompanied the CM and advisor to CM, who aimed to ensure prompt relief measures and coordination among local administration, Army, and disaster response teams.

The flash flood in Chasoti had resulted in significant loss of property and displacement of residents, prompting urgent rescue and relief operations by the district administration and security forces.

Omar Abdullah directed authorities to expedite rehabilitation efforts and provide immediate assistance to the affected families.

Authorities confirmed that the Army, police, and SDRF continue search and rescue operations in the most affected parts of the village. Local administration assured that temporary shelters and medical aid are being provided, and efforts are underway to restore normalcy in Chasoti.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the crisis and supporting the flood-hit population in Kishtwar district. (KNC)
