SRINAGAR: Khyber Cement has unveiled its 2026 calendar, continuing an annual tradition that has evolved into a cultural statement extending beyond the company’s core business. This year’s edition, titled Kashmir’s Capital Architecture, presents a visual and narrative journey through the Valley’s shifting seats of power, tracing how architecture has reflected political authority, faith, and social imagination across centuries.

Khyber Cement launches its calendar for 2026

Structured as twelve carefully curated chapters, the calendar documents the architectural evolution of Kashmir’s capitals, beginning with Pandrethan, associated with Emperor Ashoka and early stone-built sacred and political spaces. It moves through the imperial grandeur of Parihaspora and culminates in later urban centres such as Nowshera, noted for its distinctive multi-storey wooden architecture. Together, the images and accompanying narratives map the transition from monumental stone traditions to modern civic forms that emerged in the twentieth century.

Umar Tramboo, Director Corporate and Strategy at Khyber Cement, said the calendar reflects the company’s belief in engaging with the region at a level deeper than commerce. He said the initiative demonstrates how closely the brand is connected to the land and culture of Kashmir, adding that progress, in the company’s view, must rest on respect for the past.

Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Head Commercials, Legal and Regulatory Affairs at Khyber Cement, described Kashmir’s architectural legacy as a chronicle inscribed directly onto the landscape. He said the theme aligns with the company’s guiding philosophy of Dil se banao, underscoring an approach to building that values emotional and cultural continuity alongside material strength.

The launch event was attended by dignitaries and senior officers of the Industries Department, including Hameeda Akhtar (JKAS), General Manager, District Industries Centre, Srinagar, who said such initiatives help preserve collective memory and foreground Kashmir’s layered history.

Khyber Cement is the market leader in Jammu and Kashmir and is known for setting benchmarks in quality, reliability, and responsibility. Beyond manufacturing, the company has maintained a visible presence in community engagement, sustainable development, and support for sports, culture, and education. Through initiatives such as its annual calendar, the company positions itself as an institution committed to building not only physical infrastructure, but also a long-term cultural legacy rooted in the region it serves.
