SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has formally requested Jammu and Kashmir Bank to extend the deadline for the JK Bank Rehabilitation Package 2025, a relief initiative launched for borrowers impacted by disturbances in the region following the Pahalgam incident.
In a letter addressed to JK Bank Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee, KCCI President Javid Ahmad Tenga highlighted that the package had been a crucial measure to help affected individuals and businesses revive financial activities and meet repayment obligations. The Chamber noted that while many borrowers submitted their consent before the original deadline of 5 November 2025, some were unable to complete formalities due to technical issues and procedural lapses at certain branches.
KCCI urged the bank to extend the scheme’s validity to accommodate these borrowers, stressing that the delays were not the applicants’ fault and that an extension would ensure fairness and inclusivity. The Chamber stated that granting additional time would align with JK Bank’s commitment to customer welfare and equitable relief.
The rehabilitation package targets borrowers from sectors including tourism, handicrafts, and services, who suffered financial setbacks following the Pahalgam incident. KCCI emphasised that an extension would allow all eligible borrowers who had expressed willingness in time to benefit from the initiative.
