Kashmiri Student Killed, Two Injured in Punjab

SRINAGAR: A Kashmiri student was killed and two others critically injured in a road accident in Ludhiana, Punjab after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a Swift car.

Officials said the deceased has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad, a resident of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Two other students, Zahid Ahmad from Bandipora and Momin Ahmad from Batingu, Sopore, were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment in critical condition.

The trio was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana, where Mudasir was declared brought dead. According to hospital authorities, the injured students have been admitted to the intensive care unit, and their condition continues to be closely monitored.

Later, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) issued a statement, appealing to the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for immediate assistance.

“This tragedy has brought unimaginable despair to the family. We urge both governments to provide every possible support to the grieving family and ensure immediate specialised medical care for the critically injured students,” said Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of JKSA.

Khuehami added that the association has already taken up the matter with the Punjab CM’s Office and urged swift transportation of Mudasir’s body to Kashmir for the last rites.
