SRINAGAR: University of Kashmir has announced the suspension of all teaching and academic activities across its campuses on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, university authorities said.

The move, detailed in an official notice, comes as a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring a peaceful environment following widespread protests across the region triggered by the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a joint US-Israeli military strike.

Protests have been reported in multiple parts of the Kashmir Valley and beyond, with demonstrators taking to the streets in response to the news of Khamenei’s killing. Authorities have imposed precautionary measures, including closures of educational institutions and restrictions on movement, to maintain law and order amid the heightened tensions.

Officials said the situation will continue to be monitored and further decisions about campus activities and reopening will be taken based on ground conditions in the coming days.
