SRINAGAR: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has approved recognised private schools across the Kashmir Division to hold remedial and supplementary teaching classes during the winter vacation for the 2025–26 academic session.

A circular issued by the Joint Director (Elementary Education) stated the decision follows multiple requests from private school heads, citing limited instructional days due to prolonged winter breaks, adverse weather, administrative closures, and other unavoidable factors.

The directive allows private institutions to conduct remedial classes on their campuses, strictly in line with their recognition status and subject to specific conditions. Participation in such classes must be voluntary, requiring prior consent from parents, and schools are prohibited from charging additional fees.

The circular also specifies that adequate heating arrangements must be provided in classrooms to ensure student safety, and remedial classes are permitted only between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
