Here is something that Kashmir should acknowledge and appreciate the way Government of India and its Ministry of external Affairs were going out of their way to ensure safety of all Indians in Iran and other states hit by the open-ended conflict in West Asia.

At the moment, the paramount concern of the Government of India in the given grave and risky situation in West Asia is to ensure safety of Indians in Iran and Gulf states. This message should ring louder and clearly among all Indians, particularly in the Kashmir Valley where some of the protests have raised new challenges for the administration and security agencies.

On Tuesday evening , the Indian embassy in Tehran issued a fresh advisory saying , “ Due to the heightened risk perception in Tehran city , the Embassy of India in Iran has relocated most Indian students who were in Tehran to safer locations outside the city “. It also stated that it has “made arrangements or their transportation, food and accommodation.” It added that “only a small number of students who declined the Embassy’s offer remain in Tehran.

Among the Indian students who have been shifted to safer places outside the city of Tehran are most of Kashmiri students, whose number is close to 3,000. This should put at rest the worries of the parents and the loved ones of the parents in Kashmir about the safety of their children. They had been making a passionate appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and get their wards shifted to safer places. They knew that the situation was grave and risky, but they expressed their faith in the leadership of Prime Minister for the safety of all students, and of course, their own children.

The government has fulfilled its duty toward its own citizens residing in Iran and Gulf States. It is working overtime to ensure safety of its citizens by issuing timely advisories. In fact, the ministry of external affairs, had issued advisories several days before the conflict erupted, urging Indian students to leave Iran. Some heeded advice, others didn’t. At that time the Jammu and Kashmir Government , Chief Minister Omar Abdullah , in particular, had urged the parents and the students in Iran to come back home before it is too late .

There is a need to understand that it is an open-ended war in the Middle-East. These are extraordinarily challenging times, and rescuing and shifting people from one place to other is very, very difficult venture. Still the Government of India is doing everything possible to keep its citizens safe.

As they say, war is not abstract, its costs blood and treasure. It is a dangerous situation for the men and women of Indian embassies, particularly in Iran, to shift the students and others to safer places. This fact should be appreciated by one and all.

In such a situation , it becomes utmost important , especially for the people of Kashmir, that the situation within the Valley is kept peaceful , and the outburst of grief and anger should not be allowed to become a play in the hands of the subversive forces. These inimical forces are out to fish in the troubled waters, using several excuses and fake propaganda.

What has happened in Kashmir following American-Israeli attack on Iran and the killing of its supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei is not all that can be justified . The expression of grief was justified, but not taking law into their hands. Kashmiris, especially the sections, that attempted to create a law and order situation, need to ponder, weren’t they making the task difficult for the government. The law and order situation can divide attention, and that is not what anyone wants at this time.
