SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today felicitated the top performers and winners of the Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic (ALOHA) State Level Arithmetic Operations Contest at the University of Kashmir, which saw participation from over 1,500 students across Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the pivotal role of youth in the region’s development, saying, “Growth of JK is directly linked with the growth of youth. They have a mission of transforming JK and the nation. With resolve and dedication, they can complete this mission. We will ensure they have the right environment to become the most talented scholars, scientists and innovators.”

He congratulated the students for their exceptional arithmetic skills and appreciated ALOHA for providing a platform to nurture their potential. “Arithmetic operations are not merely numerical calculations. They form the foundation for problem-solving, critical thinking, and reasoning. This drives young minds towards innovation, science, and technology,” he said, adding that education should focus on building the nation’s future rather than merely awarding marks or certificates.

The Lieutenant Governor also urged the youth to think creatively and follow unconventional paths to achieve their goals. “In an unpredictable world, innovation cannot be achieved by following the beaten track. The younger generation should be more entrepreneurial, adventurous, and creative,” he said.

He emphasised transforming school campuses into hubs of curiosity and innovation, where classrooms serve as launchpads for research, ideas, and aspirations.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir; Loh Mun Sung, Founder of ALOHA International; Kiran Motwani, Director, ALOHA International; Mubashir Aslam Wafai, Director ALOHA JK; senior officials from police and civil administration; heads of educational institutions, teachers, and students.
