SRINAGAR: Authorities in Kashmir have announced that internet services will remain restricted to 2G speed, with outgoing calls on prepaid mobile connections suspended, following protests over the death of Iran’s leader, Ali Khamenei.
Senior officials said the measures are a precautionary step to maintain law and order and ensure a peaceful atmosphere across the Valley.
The situation is being closely monitored, and further decisions on internet and communication services will be taken based on ground assessments.
On Sunday, widespread protests erupted across Jammu and Kashmir — including Srinagar, Budgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, and even Ladakh —against the killing of Ayatollah Khamenei.
