Karra thanks Kharge, Rahul Gandhi for letter to PM Modi on statehood

Srinagar, Jul 17: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Thursday expressed gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and LOP Rahul Gandhi for their letter to Prime Minister Narinder Modi, urging for restoration of Statehood to J&K and inclusion of Ladakh under the 6th schedule.

Karra in a tweet asserted that Congress demanded prompt action in the upcoming session to respect and fulfill the urges and aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh.

Karra said everyone must understand that restoration of statehood is possible only with the intervention of Congress, given the fact that the party has 150 MPs in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. “Congress stands firm for protection of rights of people of J&K and Ladakh,” JKPCC President asserted.

The party statement said Karra was in touch with Congress’ central leadership for the last three days on this issue.

JKPCC President also referred to the ongoing movement launched by the Congress under “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq”, asserting that the Congress party will further intensify its campaign for restoration of statehood to J&K, it said. “We are committed to safeguard J&K’s dignity and rights,” JKPCC President added.
